Description:

Compact trail network of around 20 km singletrack just outside Moe. Mix of trails from easy advanced with some imaginative features and good use of the terrain. It’s amazing how so much track is squeezed in to such a small space and just how much fun there is to be had here.

The ominous black gates emblazoned with skulls and ghosts at the entrance to Haunted Hills

You’ve just got to look at this place to know it’s something special. As soon as you arrive, all you can see are kids going bonkers on the pump track and trails going everywhere across the hill. It looks like madness, but it’s brilliant.

Almost all of the 20 km of machine built singletrack can be seen from the trailhead, like a bowl of trail spaghetti has been dropped from the skies.

There is order to the apparent chaos though. The trails are organised around a series of hubs, each with a set of trails that get optimum distance across the hills with minimal intersections, and all joining up to the relatively gentle up-tracks that take you back to the hub. Each hub has a map and all trails are clearly marked which makes navigation simple, and you’re never too far from the trailhead.

The trailhead itself has great facilities including a bike wash, BBQs and cloverleaf pump track.

There’s a bit of everything here for all riders: smooth beginner trails, twisting descents, pure flow trails, jump tracks, and XC goodness. The trail surfaces are mostly hard packed and beautifully sculpted into the landscape. The ratings are generally based on the severity of the jump and berm features, of which there are many. There are some small technical sections, but mostly it’s flow. The signature black trail Trick or Treat has some big gap jumps that can’t be rolled over (although there are B-lines), so need some commitment, and probably a sighting run is not a bad idea.

Despite the spooky overtones, Haunted Hills is a place of pure pleasure. Whether it’s an all day outing, a hard XC session or a quick couple of jump runs, you are certain to leave with a smile on your face and a desire to come back as soon as you can.
