About
MTB Victoria is a directory of sanctioned mountain bike trail centres in Victoria, Australia. It aims to help you find the best places to ride that suit your skills and the type of riding you like. It only includes official trail centres with maps and facilities so you don’t have to worry (too much) about navigation and whether a trail is suitable for your skills and bike.
People are always asking where to ride and it was difficult to point to an authoritative source which was comprehensive and reliable. Some existing websites are clearly skimmed by AI and are very inaccurate, some need a subscription, and/or are user-generated which means they include trails regardless of their quality, legal or land-owner status.
This is where the idea for MTB Victoria stemmed from. We have been out and ridden every one of the trail centres included in this guide (OK, we’re just finishing off a few). The descriptions represent our views and are only biased by our experience and love of good trails.
If you disagree with our words or have some suggestions for how we could improve the site we’d love to hear from you!

I got my first mountain bike back in 1985. It was heavy, had rigid forks and broke a lot. Struggling across muddy fields before the birth of mainstream trail centres, it nurtured a love affair with mountain biking that has continued for over 40 years. I’ve never lost the excitement of heading out, not knowing exactly what the ride will bring and looking forward to the buzz I know pedaling brings. I still spend as much time as I can cross-country racing or playing out bush. I’ve ridden countless kms in this time across all sorts of terrain in Australia and across the world.
This vast experience has provided an insight into what makes a good trail network and what riders need to know when choosing where to ride.
Mountain biking is my thing. It keeps my head in a good space. It lets me escape and gets me out in the wilderness and fresh air. It is the common thread to meet good people. It keeps me fit and is a constant stimulating mental and physical challenge. It rewards me with joy; be it riding with others, nailing that feature for the first time, surviving a technical descent, pulling a perfect wheelie, or that rare moment of pure trance-like FLOW.
These days, as a qualified Professional Mountain Bike Instructor’s Association and AusCycling skills coach and professional MTB guide, I am now lucky enough to share my passion; teaching and helping others to ride safe and get the most enjoyment out of mountain biking.
If this site helps you get a fraction of the joy I have from mountain biking then that makes me very happy.
On y va – let’s go!
